Identity and chronology

The Oklahoma Hall of Fame states that Everette Green Fry organized the Kiltie Band in Oklahoma City in 1923. The organization featured girls and young women, generally ages fourteen to twenty-two, playing bagpipes, hornpipes, glockenspiels, and drums, and it toured major cities in the United States and Canada.

Leadership

Everette Green Fry was founder and leader. He died in 1942; later evidence documents an American Legion Post 35-sponsored Kiltie Band, but the complete post-Fry leadership succession is not established.

Sponsorship and participation

The original group was Fry’s organization. By 1952, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame describes American Legion Post 35 sponsorship.

Adult or plausibly adult; exact participation model may remain unverified.

Activity
