Identity and chronology
An OHS photograph documents a Langston University band marching in an 89ers celebration in Guthrie, although the item is undated. Langston announced Mark G. Gordon as director of bands effective June 25, 2018; university reporting describes growth from roughly forty-five members at the beginning of his tenure to more than three hundred.
Leadership
Mark G. Gordon leads the modern Marching Pride. University material also identifies Lonnie Easter as an earlier director, but a full twentieth-century succession has not been located.

The bands are institutional ensembles of Langston University, Oklahoma’s historically Black university.
