History
Identity and chronology
The Oklahoma Historical Society catalogues an image as “Ladies Band,” made about 1890–1891, and states that Will Rigdon organized the band. The record names Rigdon and thirteen women. A second image, dated about 1940, is catalogued as “Ladies Band Norman 50th Anniversary” and names six women.
Leadership
Will Rigdon is the only documented organizer or leader in the reviewed evidence. No conductor succession has been established.
Sponsorship and participation
The photographs support a women-centered civic ensemble in Norman. The precise sponsor, membership rules, and legal name have not been found.
Adult or plausibly adult; exact participation model may remain unverified.
Activity
The early group portrait and the later anniversary photograph establish the band’s remembered place in Norman, but they do not prove continuous operation for fifty years.
