Identity and chronology

OSU states that a student organized the first Oklahoma A&M College Band in 1905 with twenty-two members who supplied their own instruments, music, and uniforms. Women were present in every concert-band section by 1936, a women’s marching band formed in 1946, and the marching bands combined in 1955.

Leadership

The reviewed origin page does not name the 1905 student organizer. Bohumil Makovsky was the department head whose program later fostered Kappa Kappa Psi; a complete director succession remains optional enrichment.

The band developed as an Oklahoma A&M/OSU institutional program with military, concert, marching, jazz, clinic, alumni, and touring forms.

Activity
