89th Army Band at Fort Sill

Candidate group · high confidence

What the evidence supports

New York State Military Museum records Rochester home station, mobilization October 15, 1950, Fort Sill duty for the active-service period, and release February 24, 1955. Its account of the 1951 report lists 89 parades/reviews, seven off-post parades, forty concerts and eighteen athletic events. It dates Oklahoma City/Tulsa dedication visits to August 2–5, Hobart parade to August 6 and Oklahoma City State Fair to September 21–22, 1951; Ralph V. Smith assumed command October 15.

Limits and open questions

New York origin; Oklahoma operating history. Museum transcription reviewed; underlying eight-page report located at https://museum.dmna.ny.gov/download_file/view/18636/3706 but scans not transcribed in this pass. Do not confuse the 77th artillery group attachment with 77th Army Band identity.

Confidence detail: high. Evidence notes are not a count of distinct ensembles.
